DIY Camel Coat + Denim
This year I am getting prepared for the cold weather sure to come. One area of my wardrobe that was truly lacking was outerwear.
I never seemed to have the right coat, jacket, or cape for the occasion. Almost always, my otherwise decent outfit would be slaughtered by a hideous brown puffer coat I've had for years that I've dragged all over the world. It served its purpose in keeping me warm, but the style factor was zero.
So this year, I'm ready! I'm focusing on sewing a variety of outerwear from casual to more dressy and in mostly neutral colors. That way, it can me mixed and matched throughout my wardrobe!
Today's DIY is courtesy of Vogue 8930. This is a pattern that everyone should have. It's easy to sew and has options to suit a variety of personal style.
And yes, she's got pockets! I added a belt to the coat and top stitched the belt and entire coat. I just love a crisp top stitching!
I styled it with a denim on denim look with some New York and Company denim and a linen-ish chambray-ish shirt. I can't recall where I purchased the shirt, but I linked to similar.
My shoes are super comfortable and from Banana Republic. My necklace is from Kohls.
