DIY Tribal Printed Ankle Pants

*singing* It's a beautiful morniiiing! Hey, girl, hey! *waves*

These pants were a happy accident and I really like them.  I'd actually used it as a muslin for my DIY jumper for Simplicity 1115, but I thought the fabric would look beautiful as some breezy printed pants for the spring and summer.

Considering I'm 5'9" and it's very challenging for me to find pants like these that are long enough, I jumped at the chance of making this muslin into something wearable. And yay for saving fabric!

The fabric is a rayon challis ikat from Low Price Fabric. Find it here. It frays like the devil, but that's what my trusty serger is for!

Originally, the crotch depth was a bit too low for the way I wanted the jumper to fit. But, I thought as separate pants, I liked them as they were. So, I re-purposed the muslin.

I cut off the bodice and added half an inch elastic to the waistband. The pants had a just enough room for me to pull them up over my hips without stressing the stitching.

I also tapered the legs a wee bit more.

These pants are going to be in heavy rotation this summer because this fabric is just everything! It pressed very easily and is so breezy against the skin. No lining is needed as this fabric is opaque (yay)!
