Pattern Review: Simplicity 1276

Simplicity 1276 I was suuuuper excited to FINALLY get a chance to sit down and sew this baby! I am a stan of Mimi G, and was so excited that she came out with these patterns with Simplicity that I paid full price for them! (I never buy sewing patterns at full price!)

This dress is from Simplicity 1276 view C.

Fabric: I used this grey double knit and ivory double knit from Joann's that I bought over this past winter. I lined it with remnant jersey knit I had lying around from Joann's. (The lining is a red wine color so if the ivory knit doesn't look quite ivory-ish enough, that's why.)

Difficulty: Beginner/Intermediate

Techniques: Lining and invisible zipper

Fit: Smooth, body hugging, and sexy! This dress covers you enough for the office, and is sexy enough for date night. I cut a 10 to accommodate the stretch in the fabric. I would have normally cut a 12 because it has enough negative ease in it, but this dress is supposed to fit like skin, so I cut the 10. I also added 2 inches to the length of the skirt and I did not hem it the full stated hem allowance, but the standard 5/8" so that it would be work appropriate.

Since this baby is fully lined and made with double knits, I'll be putting it away until the fall. It's still too hot for me to wear this out. But, she'll be there in my closet...ready and waiting!
